I just thought I'd drop an idea in here on y'all. Just brain storming a little before sleep takes over. I noticed we have a poet among us here, and I saw a YouTube video recently of a dance/spoken word performance and I thought... hey, how about a poetry night at the church?
Think of it this way... in Eagle Mountain there is no culture, none, nada, zero... okay, maybe there are a few scrapbook clubs for the ladies, but that's it. With a poetry night every couple of weeks, possibly, the church building could become a hub of culture out here. Of course, there are risks, imagine: teenager + open mic + emotional poetry = total disaster.
And yet, sometimes these things take off and become something. I've seen a few work in San Diego, and I've been to one of those kind off disaster ones at a B&N up in Sugar House. I've heard of one currently going on in a coffeehouse up in the Salt Lake area, and plan to pay a visit to it soon to see how it's going. It maybe a good way to connect with the community, especially a community that doesn't have many outlets to connect at.
Anyway, just a thought.
